The intention of this meditation called Lionheart, is to create a state of physiological coherence, to slow your brainwaves down, build resilience and a state of inner power and to connect to your deepest Self.
Research shows that activating your heart center has profound health benefits – both physical and mental/emotional. So this meditation is inspired from Heart Math and their research done the last 30 years. By creating a state of physiological coherence by awakening our hearts through breathing techniques and conscious activation of strengthening emotions we influence our entire life experience: Anxiety and depression is reduced, our immune systems get stronger, we lower our blood pressure, we increase concentration, we sleep better and the list goes on.
So by combining the techniques from Heart Math with the techniques of Soma Breath we get a really powerful tool that also feels great!
This is a Soma Breath Daily Dose of three rounds. It has three rounds of rhythmical breathing, three breath holds on the exhale and three breath holds on the inhale.
A Daily Dose is basically the recommended amount of Soma Breath per day and generally has two or three rounds. We use music in these meditations to help you get into a restful state and to keep the rhythm of your breathing smooth and consistent.
The rhythmical breathing rate in all the rounds are 4 counts in and 4 counts out.
Remember, always breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Breathe in, down in your belly first, then the chest. If you choose to lie down, you can monitor your breathing pattern by having one hand on your chest and one on your belly, where the hand on the belly rises first. Alternatively, keep your arms at your sides.
For the breath hold on the exhale, try to push your limits, move your head, neck and shoulder to help you and take a quick sip in and out if you need it. The hold on exhalation becomes easier with practice and easier for each round.
For the best experience use headphones. You can either sit up with your spine straight or, lay down on your back, somewhere you will not be disturbed. Comfort is of importance.
In guided meditations we work in our inner world, so using our imagination is essential. And, as we all know, if we can’t use our imagination nothing is ever created – so just follow the guide and let it take you for a journey.
I hope you enjoy!
